Play the Daily Hockey Wordle

Puck Words is RosterSpin's daily Hockey Wordle — a free hockey word puzzle built for NHL fans. Every day at midnight a new five-letter NHL player surname is chosen, and everyone playing that day is trying to solve the same puzzle. If you like Wordle-style games and you love hockey, this is the daily hockey word game made for you. There's nothing to install and no account required: open the page, start guessing, and come back tomorrow for a fresh challenge.

How to Play Puck Words

You have six tries to guess today's five-letter NHL player surname. Type any valid five-letter word and press Enter. After each guess, the tiles change colour to give you feedback: green means the letter is in the answer and in the correct position, yellow means the letter is in the answer but in a different spot, and grey means the letter is not in the surname at all. Use the on-screen or physical keyboard — solved letters are highlighted there too, so you can track which letters you've already ruled in or out. Solve the surname before your six guesses are up to win, then tap Share to copy your result. When the round ends you'll also see every NHL player whose last name matches today's answer, with the teams and seasons they played.

What Makes Puck Words Different

Most Wordle-style games pull from a generic English dictionary. Puck Words only uses real NHL player surnames, which means the letter patterns skew toward names you actually recognise from hockey history — a very different puzzle than a standard NHL word game or trivia quiz. Because every player in this puzzle has skated in the league, casual fans can usually find a handful of viable guesses, while die-hards can lean on their roster knowledge to zero in on the answer faster. Puck Words is also a shared daily hockey word game: everyone in the world sees the same surname on the same date, so your score is directly comparable to your friends'. Pair it with the rest of RosterSpin's hockey games — the Grid, Hockey Strands, Start · Bench · Cut, the NHL Logo Quiz, and the NHL Arenas Quiz — for a full daily hockey routine.
