The simulator starts from the same saved results, team ratings and schedule as our published playoff odds. Every game you pick is locked to that winner; every other remaining game is played out at random from team strength, and the official NFL tiebreakers decide seeds. Your team's chances are the share of 2,500 simulated seasons in which it makes the playoffs.
The simulator uses 2,500 simulations, so its numbers can differ from our main odds by a point or two. 'Other games that matter' only lists games whose effect is clearly bigger than random noise.
